Matthew Ayotte
Matthew has over 25 years of healthcare experience in North Carolina, having worked for healthcare providers (Duke University Health System) and health insurers (BC/BS, United Healthcare, Cigna, and Coventry Healthcare). His core experiences have primarily revolved around healthcare financing and contracting.
He has worked in the medical communities of nearly every county in the state, negotiating principled financial contracts for health plans with hospitals, physicians, and ancillary health care providers. In the insurance industry, he has also been extensively involved in business planning, performance reporting, and design and implementation of contract compliance and monitoring programs.
He also held roles responsible of regulatory compliance in financial and operational settings, including development of internal controls and financial/operational compliance programs (Sarbanes-Oxley and NC DOI regulations). His experience in academic medicine focused on clinical service program development and business planning for the Health System.
His undergraduate (BA – ’87) was obtained at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his graduate education (MA-’90) was at the University of Florida.
